![]() Standing in Apollo's way is the second member of the evil Triumvirate, a Roman emperor whose love of bloodshed and spectacle makes even Nero look tame. Somewhere in the American Midwest, he and his companions must find the most dangerous Oracle from ancient times: a haunted cave that may hold answers for Apollo in his quest to become a god again-if it doesn't kill him or drive him insane first. What is affecting the Oracles, and how can Apollo/Lester do anything about them without his powers? After experiencing a series of dangerous-and frankly, humiliating-trials at Camp Half-Blood, Lester must now leave the relative safety of the demigod training ground and embark on a hair-raising journey across North America. The only way Apollo can reclaim his rightful place on Mount Olympus is by restoring several Oracles that have gone dark. What did these heinous figures from history do in their time, and which one will Lester have to face in THE DARK PROPHECY? Zeus has punished his son Apollo-god of the sun, music, archery, poetry, and more-by casting him down to earth in the form of a gawky, acne-covered sixteen-year-old mortal named Lester. He’s been so endearing, and I feel like he’s matured so much after the events of the last book, I loved that he thought of his children, and I personally felt like he was less reckless and impulsive this time around, too.ĭefinitely excited to see how this series wraps up! My favourite parts of this book were the scenes with Leo, Calypso, Apollo and the Hunters of Artemis! I love all those Hunters so much, it was great to see them band together and support Apollo and vice versa! Like, as much as I enjoy these adventures, I feel like I knew what was coming in this one, and that made it less of a surprise for me when I reached the end- though I do think the last installment will be the best of the three, at least, I hope so! I feel like a lot is riding on it! I’m keeping this one short though, because I feel like there’s not much I can add on from book 1. Joined by Leo and Calypso, and with the addition of a few friendly and familiar faces, I loved this book a lot! This, much like it’s predecessor, was such a fun adventure! It delivered at every point, with that amazing sass and wit of Apollo, still trapped in a human body, as he undergoes his quest to regain his Godly status. The god Apollo, stuck in the body of a teenage boy, must undergo the second of his trials to regain his immortality. The second book in the the latest series from Percy Jackson creator Rick Riordan.
